Thank you and all of FEF for giving me the opportunity to attend the 2016 Cllege Industry Conference. Not only were the accomodations great, I believe that the speakers provided very good insight into what to expect on the road ahead in the metal casting industry. Mr. Cobett had a lot of great thoughts about his journey that I had not yet thought about and was very thought provoking. Ms. Meekhof's talk on how relocating helped and generally affected her and her life was something that I could easily relate to being that I myself have moved multiple times and am contemplating relocating to the other side of the country for a career. Last but not least, Mr. Kundratic gave genuine insight into the importance of connections and how hard work on projects whether you enjoy them or not can help you gain respect and experience. I believe their advice will aid me in the coming months as I begin my career. Beyond the speakers, the opportunities for connections with professionals in industry as well as the other delegates is sure to be beneficial in th long run because you never know where a connection can take you.
Once again, thank y ou for the opportunity. I hope that in the future I can give back to FEF what they have given me.
S.C. - Missouri S&T 12/12/16

I am a senior studying metallurgical engineering. I would like to thank you and all of FEF for giving me the opportunity to attend this year's College Industry Conference. It was obvious that a lot of hard work and planning went into the event.
The speakers provided excellent insight and career advice. It was very useful having speakers from different points in their careers. Mackenzie Meekhof gave great advice on dealing with relocation, which is an issue I have been contemplating. Jim Kundratic gave excellent advice on how he has made genuine connections with the employees working under his supervision. Tom Cobett shared a lot of wisdom from his decades of experience. Alll of the speakers gave practical advice that will help me transtion from a studet to a professional.
I know that all of the connections I made at the event with industry representatives and fellow students will pay dividends in the future This event was a once in a lifetime opportunity that will potentially shape my career path. It was an honor to have been selected to attend such a fantastic event. I look forward to giving back to FEF in the future, in hopes of making the CIC even better!

I want to start out by saying thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend CIC. CIC gave me the resources that I will use to advance my casting career in the future. The event put on by FEF was one of the best I have seen. Everyone I met was kind and caring about my future career in casting. The passion that everyonee has for the industry amazes me. The industry is essentially one big family and a family that I am proud to be a part of. Making this event an all-expenses paid trip also made it possible for me to attend and my fellow classmates. I will make it a duty of mine to attend CIC's in the future and to be an active member during my career. Encouraging future students to become a member of FEF is crucial and I will inspire who I can.
Thank you again for this opportunity , and I look forward to future meetings.

I am writing to thank you for the scholarship - I am honored to have been one of the few who've been selected for this type of scholarship.
I am a Manufacturing Technology Management major with minors in Metals Processing, Drafting & Product Design and Computer Integrated Manufacturing. My main focus is to stay involved with the casting industry through metallurgical sciences and rapid prototyping. I plan to use my skills in an investment casting foundry some day or in a metal printing laboratory. This next coming semester, I will be a senior, and I plan to graduate either in the fall of 2017 or spring of 2018. I am involved with the AFS - Platteville Chapter, going on plant tours and class trips. It is because of scholrships like this one that help out with going on these endeavors. Thank you very much!
By awarding me the scholarship, I am able to afford to participate in many unique opportunities here in Platteville, which further my education. I am learning a lot about the casting industry and can say that I am able to stick out from my peers because of financial help like this. Your generosity has inspired me to continue down the path I have paved out for myself. I hope to one day contribute to the casting industry as a whole for the better.
A.W. - Wisconsin-Platteville 6/3/16
I am writing to thank you for your generous Foundry Educational Foundation scholarship. I was very happy and appreciative to learn that I was selected as a recipient of the scholarship.
I am a Mechanical Engineering major with minors in Metals Processing Technology and Spanish. I plan to pursue a career in the foundry industry upon graduating. I had an internship this past summer at Callen Manufacturing working with the Process Engineer to learn about the die casting process. I conducted studies on die casting defects by analyzing flow simulation data and modifying the parameters controlling the casting process. I also worked with customers and tool shops on quoting new jobs and helping work through various modifications to improve the castability of new and existing jobs. This internship helped to solidify my interest in the metalcasting field. This summer, I have an internship at Dotson Iron Castings where I hope to learn more about ductile iron and sand casting.
By awarding me this scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school - learning. I hope to be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me by being active in both FEF and AFS as a professional.
R.G. - Alabama-Birmingham 5/23/16

I want to show my appreciation for being chosen as a recipient of an FEF scholarship. Thank you so much for your generous donation toward my education. It means a lot to my family and me, whose financial burden has been lessened by this schoalrship. I plan on using the aid to purchase books for next semester and pay off a portion of my student tuition. I look forward to my senior year at Trine University and cannot wait for the opportunity to plunge into a career in design manufacturing engineering. Although metal casting has not been a focus in my education, I find it very fascinating and would be very happy in a position that uses such processes. I have been a part of the FEF for about half a year but I have already found the worth in this organization. The value that I have found is in the resources that the FEF has allowed me to use. Because of the FEF, I gained notice from three potentialinternships. One day I hope to help a student in need through the FEF in a way that it has helped me. Once again, thank you.
D.B. - Wisconsin-Platteville 5/17/16
I would like to personally thank you for the scholarship that I received. The generosity that is shown by FEF, AFS and the individuals within the organizations is truly incredible and is very much appreciated by myself and everyone else affected by this organization.
In the past, I have been involved with the metals/manufacturing department at my high school doing a fair amount of machining, welding and casting. There have been several opportunities for me to go back and interact with the students by showing them how to use equipment more efficiently and helping to show them other options that are out there in terms of schooling and careers. I am currently involved in learning about the foundry industry and also in the AFS chapter in Platteville. By getting involved in AFS, I have learned a large amount about casting, how the industry works, what kind of people are involved in it, and how close knit the industry really is. Now that I've graduated, I've accepted a position at Milwaukee Valve in Prairie du Sac, WI. I was hired on as a metallurgical and Process Engineer and am looking forward to my opportunities there!
Once again, thank you very much for the scholarship and the opportunities that are associated with FEF and AFS and the possibilities they present.

In the past, I have been involved with the metals/manufacturing department at my high school doing a fair amount of machining, welding and casting. There have been several opportunities for me to go back and interact with the students by showing them how to use equipment more efficiently and helping to show them other options that are out there in terms of schooling and careers. I am currently a senior with a Manufacturing major and a metals processing minor. I would like to personally thank you for the scholarship that I received at the College Industry Conference. The generosity that is shown by FEF, AFS and the individuals within the organization is tryly incredible and is very much appreciated by myself and everyone else affected by this organization.
In the past, I have been involved in the metals/manufacturing department at my high school doing a fair amount of machining, welding and casting. There have been several opportunities for me to go back and interact with the students by showing them how to use equpment more efficiently and helping to show them other options that are out there in terms of schooling and careers. I am currently a senior with a Manufacturing major and a metals processing minor. With one semester left, I am very involved in learning about the foundry industry and also in the AFS chapter in Platteville. By getting involved in AFS, I have learned a large amount about casting, how the industry works, what kind of people are involved in it, and how close knit the industry really is. When I'm done with school, I hope to get a job in the foundry industry working as a foundry engineer or a process egineer with my interests being specifically oriented towards processes, metallurgy or maintenance. But until then, I plan on getting as much out of my time here at Platteville as I can.
Once again, thank you very much for the scholarship and the opportunities that are associated with FEF and AFS and the possibilities they present.

Thank you for selecting me to be the recipient of an FEF scholarship. It is through yuour generous financial support that college students, like me, can continue to pursue their dreams. I hope one day I will be able to help and inspire engineering students to achieve their goals just as you have helped me.
