Thank you so much for awarding me this scholarship. I am very honored to receive this award. FEF has been the most helpful foundation I have found during my time as a student. FEF and the foundry industry are so welcoming and helpful that they set themselves apart from other industries I have been a part of. I am looking forward to the CIC and starting my career in the foundry industry. I hope to one day give back to FEF to help future students take the same interest I have in this wonderful industry. Thanks again.

P.F. - Cal Poly-Pomona 6/29/17

I would like to graciously thank you for the gift of the FEF scholarship this past quarter. It is a real honor to be supported financially to study something I love. This past quarter, I was enrolled in the Foundry Engineering class at Cal Poly-Pomona, which was easily my favorite class out of the whole manufacturing engineering program. I have been obsessed with metalcasting ever since my high school metal shop class where I even built my own foundry furnace. I am currently on track to graduate by the end of this year and am doing my senior project at a local bronze foundry. I plan to most likely work in the field of casting after I graduate. A portion of this scholarship was used to fund my trip to Casting Congress this year in Milwaukee, which I really enjoyed, likewise with CastExpo which I attended last year. Both were factastic educational opportunities, and I also made some good connections. If you have any interest in seeing some of my personal foundry & machining projects, they can be found at greensandmachines.com, a website hosted by my brother and I. Much thanks.

A.B. - Wisconsin-Platteville 6/12/17

I would like to write and show my appreciation for being selected as a Foundry Educational Foundation scholarship recipient this spring. The organization's financial assistance will certainly be helpful towards furthering my education into metals processing and take some of the burden of next semester's tuition. I am honored to have been considered and selected for such an award, and would again just like to say thank you.

M.J. - Texas State 5/30/17

I would formally and very sincerely like to thank both you and FEF for selecting me as an FEF scholar again this year. FEF's contribution and investment towards my education does not go unappreciated, and I feel honored to have been selected as a recipient for the second year.

During my three years at Texas State University, I have become very involved in metalcasting, particularly in the steel industry. I become more fascinated by this industry every day because it affords me many opportunities to excel professionally, as well as remain intellectually stimulating throughout my career, which is something that I have come to admire about this career path.

I am nearing the completion of my degree, with my anticipated graduation date being December 2018. With this date fast approaching, scholarships are becoming increasingly crucial. Additionally, I have a sibling starting school in the fall, and so again, any contribution to my tuition is both welcome and appreciated by both myself and my family.

Again, thank you very much for your contribution. It will help me complete my education on time so that I may begin a career in metalcasting.

D.R. - Texas State 5/30/17

I want to thank you and the Foundry Educational Foundation Board of Directors for sponsoring and funding scholarships at Texas State University. As one of this year's recipients of the "Foundry Educational Foundation Scholarship," I wish to express my thanks to you and your organization for your generosity.

I knew that by selecting Texas State University I was already headed for a great future, supplemented with an enhanced education. This scholarship award will only further assist in achieving my education and career goals. Without a doubt, this award will prove to be extremely valuable for me, helping to reduce the financial burdens of pursuing a master's degree in Material Science and Engineering.

Once again, thank you for supporting the students of Texas State University. I hope to become an individual that makes your foundation proud.

P.J. - Texas State 5/30/17

It is with great gratitude that I express my appreciation for the scholarship funds bestowed unto me by FEF. I have secured a Supervisor in Training position with Andy Long of EJ USA in Ardmore, Oklahoma and these funds are going directly to the security deposit for the house that my wife and two beautiful children will be living in through the next few years. I humbly thank you for selecting me to receive these benefits and would like to assure you that they are going to the foundation for a long and prosperous career in the metalcasting industry. I would like to thank FEF for all that it has given to me, including a delegate position for CIC this past year, which I attribute to assisting me with landing my first job post-graduation.

J.C. - Texas State 5/30/17

First and foremost, I would like to thank you and everybody who makes FEF the amazing organization that it is. This year I am the proud recipient of an FEF scholarship and am very grateful, more than words can ever describe. If it was not for FEF and everything they have done for me, I would not have been given the opportunity of a lifetime for this summer. During the CIC conference, I had interviewed with General Motors. It was not until a month later when I received a phone call wanting to know why I had not filled out the application on line, so they could proceed with an internship offer. All I could do was just be in awe at that point. Not once did I even fathom the thought that GM would offer me an internship within their organization. I will forever be indebted to FEF for the amazing support I have received throughout my studies at Texas State University.

Truly, I am so grateful for all the opportunities that have been afforded to me by FEF to help me launch my new career in the metal casting industry.

C.M. - Texas State 5/30/17

I would like to sincerely thank you for the scholarshp you have provided me. Over the past couple of years, my interest in metal casting has grown and the people of the industry have treated me with the highest of hospitality. I am truly blessed to have discovered this industry and have met so many remarkable people that only want to see this generation succeed. The internship with Johnny Hill in Dallas and the metal casting conferences have been such an eye-opener, leading me to a higher appreciation and love for the industry and its people. Right now, I have been blessed with a manufacturing engineer position directly out of college, where the knowledge I have gained in the classrooms and labs has helped me excel. This scholarship has been one of the many blessings the organization has given me. The machine and supplies donations go a long way in the lab, and help us learn hands on. With this scholarship, I will continue to expand my trade and knowledge in the metal casting community and even after graduation this May, I will be a member and participate in FEF and AFS activities. It is my goal to continue teaching and helping others I meet along the way with the same passion and hospitality I have been treated with. The last couple of years in my college career have been an absolute blessing. Again, I would like to thank you and all the people that make this possible.

D.S. - Wisconsin-Platteville 5/30/17

I am writing to thank you for awarding me this scholarship. I am honored to have been one of the few who've been selected for this type of scholarship.

I am a Manufacturing Technology Management major with minors in Metals Processing, Drafting and Product Design, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing. My main focus is to stay involved with the casting industry through metallurgical sciences and rapid prototyping. I plan to use my skills in an investment casting foundry some day, or in a metal printing laboratory. This next coming semester, I will be a 5th year senior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and I plan to graduate spring of 2018. I am involved with the American Foundry Society-Platteville Chapter, going on plant tours and class trips, and it is because of scholarships like this one that help out with going on these endeavors. Thank you very much!

By awarding me this scholarship, I plan to fund personal research into 3D Printed metal technology. It's obvious that the industry is leaning towards this technology, and I plan to be on the cutting edge for as long as possible. This means a lot that people in the industry are so willing to help us students out. I plan to spend this money wisely.

Thank you for your support of our UW Platteville metal casting program. Also thank you for this scholarship which has allowed me to focus on my studies during the school year instead of working another job. UW Platteville and all of its students are lucky to have such great support from industry and groups like FEF and AFS. I will be graduating this semester and working at Olson Aluminum; I look forward to donating back to FEF to help another student down the road. Thank you for all FEF has done.

M.K. - Wisconsin-Platteville 5/12/17

Thank you for your support of the UWP Industrial Studies program. I received the Key Professor Scholarship recently and would like to express my gratitude for the financial support I have received. I plan on using this support to extend my knowledge of industry and give back to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Industrial Studies program.

I am currently a Junior, going on my Senior year, at UWP as a Technology Education major. I currently work in retail twenty-five to thirty hours per week to pay for my schooling. The generous support that I have received will allow me to participate in more AFS meetings and field trips to enhance my knowledge of industry so that I can be more knowledgeable about industry when I am teaching in the future. With this support, I will become more involved in AFS next year to expand my knowledge of metallurgy, metal processes, and industry as a hole so that when I am teaching, I can excite young students of the possibilities of industry. I believe that my enthusiasm and knowledge are the building blocks to industry because I can get kids excited at a young age so that they look to continue their education in industry with a secondary education.

I also plan on using my financial support in support of the UWP Industrial Studies program itself. Dr. Metzloff is very positive with students and helpful but he is only one person. Currently, he is at times relying on out-dated media to help teach his classes. I plan on helping him up date this media in a more modern, informative way so that every industrial studies student benefits. I also plan on learning how to maintenance the tools in the shop because I will have to know how to do that myself when I am running the shop at a school. This learning will benefit the industrial studies too because I can be used to improve the shop and the overall learning experience.

Once again, thank you for all of your support of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Industrial Studies and AFS. Your support is enhancing our education here at Platteville so that we have knowledge and experience when we enter the workplace. Thank you for helping me continue my education in a positive way. I look forward to learning vital information in the future instead of working just to pay for school. Your support is allowing me to do that.

E.S. - Michigan Tech 5/11/17

I would like to thank you for the support you provide to the students such as myself. I would also like to thank anyone else involved in the decision-making process. Thank you and all of FEF for giving me the opportunity to attend the 2016 Cllege Industry Conference. Not only were the accomodations great, I believe that the speakers provided very good insight into what to expect on the road ahead in the metal casting industry. Mr. Cobett had a lot of great thoughts about his journey that I had not yet thought about and was very thought provoking. Ms. Meekhof's talk on how relocating helped and generally affected her and her life was something that I could easily relate to being that I myself have moved multiple times and am contemplating relocating to the other side of the country for a career. Last but not least, Mr. Kundratic gave genuine insight into the importance of connections and how hard work on projects whether you enjoy them or not can help you gain respect and experience. I believe their advice will aid me in the coming months as I begin my career. Beyond the speakers, the opportunities for connections with professionals in industry as well as the other delegates is sure to be beneficial in th long run because you never know where a connection can take you.

Once again, thank y ou for the opportunity. I hope that in the future I can give back to FEF what they have given me.
