After WWII ended, there was a desparate need for skilled technicians and educated leaders in the cast metals industry. FEF was established in 1947 by the leaders of the metal casting industry, with the support of affiliated organizations and societies as an independent extension of metalcasting educational programs at colleges and universities across the country. TMB Industries Scholarship

Lifetime Patron, Thomas M. Begel, established this scholarship (originally named Johnstown America Scholarship) in 1999. Mr. Begel is active in railcar and truck components, and his company is located in Chicago. Tom is also President and CEO of TMB Industries, a private investment firm that owns 11 die casting and stamping companies.
