FEF's screening of award candidates for final selection by the Scholarship Committee of the Non-Ferrous Founders' Society will be based on the following:
- Residency
- Must be North American citizen or permanent resident (see next requirement)

- Education
- Meets FEF Student Guidelines
- Attending an FEF college/university
- Attending a non-FEF college/university
- Applications will be graded on the following criteria:
- Career Objective Essay (1-10 pts) = 30% of scoring
- Education = 40% of scoring
- Study in Engineering directly related to cast metals industry (8-10 pts)
- Other cast metals industry related course of study (1-7 pts)
- Work Experience = 30% of scoring
- Internship/Co-op work experience at NFFS member facility (8-10 pts)
- Internship/Co-op work experience in the nonferrous cast metals industry (5-7 pts)
- Any work experience in the cast metals industry (1-4 pts)

- Before September 30, 2020
