George J. Barker Memorial Scholarship
Selection Criteria
The George J. Barker Memorial Scholarship supports GRADUATE LEVEL educational efforts, including direct student scholarships, in arts and sciences beneficial to the cast metal industry, particularly within the membership areas for the AFS chapters in Wisconsin. If you are not a Graduate Student, you may want to apply for the AFS Wisconsin Past President Scholarship (if you qualify) - click here.
Applications are submitted electronically on the FEF website and initially evaluated by the FEF. Final evaluation and selection of grant recipients are made through an interview process conducted by the George J. Barker Memorial Research Foundation Interview and Evaluation Committee. This Committee conducts interviews of each candidate either in person or via telephone. The Committee uses a cascade of criteria in considering applications. The maximum award could be as much as $5,000.00 although many factors such as funds availability, the number of qualified applicants, the needs of the individual applicants and the screening criteria below all can affect the sizes of the awards.
